| The
Cut Bank Creek bluffs, southwest of town, display features Lewis described
as he moved north along the Marias and Cut Bank July 20 and 21: "the
bluffs of the river are about 200 feet high, steep irregular and formed
of earth which readily with water, slips and precipitates itself into
the river." Lichen studded rocks and clusters of wildflowers
decorate the creek banks in this area. Lewis would have noted these
specimens; but he was in a hurry to achieve his goal and get in and
out of Blackfoot country. |
