These signs review the life line essential to the survival of tribal cultures on both west and east sides of the Continental Divide. The Corps encountered all of them-with mostly positive; but some negative results.

The main part of the Road to the Buffalo follows the Blackfoot River to present day Lincoln Mt. Then it turns northeast up Alice Creek to the pass, now named Lewis & Clark Pass; then it connects to Medicine River, now Sun River, which runs east to the Missouri at Great Falls Mt.
