Lewis Return Trail
Following a northeast direction from the Continental Divide, provided by the Nez Perce, Lewis located Elk Creek and led his squad to its confluence with "Medicine" Sun River. He knew the river; he had explored its confluence with the Missouri on the journey west in 1805. The images are in the area where the squad met it near Augusta. Trekking 9 miles down river, they camped on an island, a little north of HWY 21: 7/8/06: 28miles.
