Continue following Lewis' return trail after July 7; return to MT HWY 200 east. At Rogers Pass stop to review the return journey at the interpretive panels. The Lewis team camped northeast of the LC Pass, between Table Mountain and Dearborne River. Most of their trail is on private land, and not near the highway in this area. The transition from Rocky Mountains to Great Plains they experienced as the highway curves northeast from the pass.
Top and center left; mountains to the northwest ; left, horses graze in prairie landscape, a reminder that the Lewis team was also proceeding east by horse.
Drive east on Hwy 200 for 23 miles(+/-) to US HWY287; turn left and continue to Augusta MT to return to Lewis trail on the Sun "Medicine" River. Follow MT HWY 21, east, along the Sun River. It follows the river as Lewis did July, 8 -10, 1806.
