Lewis & Clark Trail
Boone Cave Missouri
I had to back track from Rocheport on HWY BB to find the campsite for June 6. It's in a pasture along the old river bed, left and above. The Corps had to camp here because the pirogues couldn't keep up with the keelboat in the rough river. Top left, the beginning of the Moniteau Bluffs - running near the Missouri from here to Rocheport (see previous 3 pages). Katy Trail State Park runs along the base of the bluff here. This Rails to Trails park runs 225 miles along an old railroad bed from St Charles to Clinton. Most of those miles are near the Missouri River and passes 16 L&C Trail sites. I walked some of it to access nearby sites. A bike would be necessary for most. Maybe the next trip? Boone Cave isn't far down the trail from here.
