I doubled back to Washington from Marthasville. The prospect for
information looked better along the south side of the river on HWY
100. At Colter's Landing - on Boef Creek near John Colter's possible
farm site - nothing turned up that I didn't know already. At Hermann
there was a good look at the river in the direction of the May 26,
'04 camp near the southern end of Loutre Island. Here, Captains
Lewis & Clark divided the crew into three messes under Sgts
Floyd, Ordway, and Pryor. These three groups would go to the Pacific
and back with L&C.
