Lewis & Clark
Trail

St Charles
Missouri

Visitors got a close up look at a replica of the white pirogue. It was the command boat for the expedition. Either Lewis or Clark was aboard most of the time. Private Richard Warfington was put in charge of the crew, carefully selected from the enlisted soldiers . Maybe this role player is Warfington. Experienced French boatmen manned the larger red pirogue and the keelboat. The other two craft were being repaired so were not available for the Heritage Days displays. During the summer of '08 the three replicas were to voyage up the Missouri River. I don't know if this took place. I was back on the west coast at that time.
