The
Visitor Center includes displays illustrating local native ingenuity.
During the winter months at Fort Clatsop, the Corps mainly depended
on dried fish and elk meat for sustenance. Their Christmas meal -
which should have included any special items they had - was somewhat
skimpy. Clark: "our Diner concisted of Pore Elk...Some Spoiled
pounded fish and a fiew roots." |
