Lewis & Clark Trail
The photos of objects and the sign, above center, are at the Fort Clatsop Visitor Center. The other interpretive signs are from Vista Park, Skamokawa, WA. They seem more appropriate here with a version of the double-coned hat. The sign, right, is one of the many kid's journal topics along the trail. Corps members were constantly making elk skin clothing. The "want of branes" in the sign text refers to using elk brains to soften the hides - not a Clark criticism of the men's tailoring skills.
