The Clark group settled into their camp, top left, and partook of a scanty meal. Clark: "Supt on Brant and a pounded fish...." Brant is a duck, Clark didn't say how many they had shot. The pounded fish was acquired in trade from a local native village. That evening, they found a strange fish. Clark: " we found a Curious flat fish Shaped like a turtle with fins on each side and a tale notched like a fish... has a white <belly> on one side and lies flat...."
