Trail
The map emphasizes the addition of land to the cape after the jetties at the mouth of the Columbia River were built. They control the flow direction keeping it from eroding the coastline. Several signs throughout the park remind you that you may have been walking or swimming in water if you had been on this spot in 1805. The granite post, top left, marks the trail up to the top of McKenzie Head. The combination bronze bas-relief and regular sculpture illustrates Clark's Cape Disappointment trek. It's titled " William Clark at McKenzie Head."
