Grays River Washington
WA HWY 4 turns away from the Columbia River west of Skamokawa. A small park sits on the southwest corner of the highway and Loop Road in Grays River. An interpretive sign explains the historical background. The Corps encountered native villages near the Columbia here. They didn't venture up Grays River. The weather was bad and they were excited to move on, sensing they were near the ocean. The town of Grays River is far inland from the Columbia.
