Roseburg
WA is a few miles west of Grays River. Here you can get back to the
Columbia River on Altoona Road. An interpretive sign is located at
a turnout just before you enter Altoona. In 2007 the sign was easy
to see. In 2011 bushes have grown up around it and it's quite weather
beaten. The view of Grays Bay is still spectacular though. Top left,
left, and above, looking west across the bay toward the November 8-9
camp. They struggled, through high waves, across the bay on November
8, 1805. Clark: " We are all wet and disagreeable." |
