A
mile long trail leads to the top of Beacon Rock. It gives you these
great views of the Columbia River east and west. Clockwise from top
left: East, south, southwest, and west. Although Captain Clark didn't
climb Beacon Rock, the terrain along Strawberry Island and near the
base was high enough for him to get a good look to the west. Here
he could see that the rapids ended and the Pacific Ocean influenced
the river. |
