I followed I-84 west of The Dalles to the Memaloose Island Rest Area,
about 3 miles west of Rowena. The Corps camped just east of Rowena
on October 28, 1805. Memaloose State Park is also accessed from this
rest area. For a mirror image of this Oregon side of "Sepulcher
Island," either continue west on I-84 and cross the Columbia
at Hood River, or return to The Dalles and cross to Washington there.
On WA HWY 14, turn east from Hood River or west from The Dalles. Follow
14 to the Chamberlain Lake Rest Area, directly across the Columbia
from the I-84 one. See next page. |
