The
interpretive signs at Fort Rock are mostly weathered and illegible
- maybe neglected because of its questionable authenticity. The site
certainly fits Clark's description. Two views east, top left and bottom
right, show the rocky bluffs. They would have been good defensible
barriers. No need to worry, besides irritating petty theft, the natives
were sociable. Mt. Hood is visible to the west. Clark first saw it
on Oct. 18th. |
