| A
sign at the park displays a map of an extensive trail in honor of
Sacajawea. The trail follows both sides of the Columbia River from
Columbia Point Marina Park in Richland, left, to Sacajawea State Park
in Pasco, above. The map is all together at the park. I had to break
it into sections to fit this page design. It reads from the left to
top right, middle right, and above. Columbia Park is the green area
in the top right image. Clark's team would have seen salmon drying
on scaffolds and Yakama and Wanapam Indians busily gathering more.
His Oct. 17, 1805 journal entry described, in detail, this tribe's
culture and dress. |
