signs tell the story of Clark's short journey up the Columbia before
the entire Corps turned down river, headed for the Pacific Ocean.
Clark's team visited an island village across from this park, top
left. The island in the river, in this photo, is not that island.
The village island is now under water. Left, the Yakama River estuary,
from Columbia Point Marina Park, north of Columbia Park. The view
is south, back toward Bateman Island and Columbia Park. See map on
