small plaza at Columbia Park, which features Sacajawea's statue, also
has several interpretive signs and a full map of the 1805 USA and
surrounding territories spread across the floor. Top left, the Oregon
Country, important to the Corps of Discovery. The three images, above,
and right are looking north from Bateman island (see page 259i for
map). On October 17, 1805, Clark and two Corps members paddled up
the Columbia River. They came within a few miles of this spot. |
