facsimile of Lewis's medical cabinet is displayed in the Sacajawea
State Park Interpretive Center, top left. Pull out a drawer and you
get the run down on each item. The Captains treated many locals on
the return trip; exchanging treatment for food. By this time, they
had depleted their trade items. Most of the trade items displayed,
above, came from the lower Columbia and Pacific Coast tribes in exchange
for dried salmon. The tobacco twist was a common gift from the Expedition. |
