These interpretive signs stand before the campsite in a turnout
on Patit Road, a few miles east of Dayton. The entrance to Patit
Road is clearly marked off US HWY 12 at the east end of town. On
the morning of May 3rd, the Corps trekked east near where the Ronan
Road heads east, above. They would take lunch at the Tucannon River,
seen on lct243a. The three figures in
the bottom right corner, in the top photo are L to R; Seaman, Lewis's
dog, Captain Lewis, and an Indian explaining cow parsnip to Lewis.
Captain Clark is to the upper left of Lewis. He has his arm out
toward his slave, York, who is holding a bucket. George Drouillard
talks with local Indians, holding their horses.
