After
returning to US HWY 12, from the Tucannon River lunch site (see previous
page), either continue west on HWY 12, following the 1806 LCT, or
take WA HWY 126 north, back to the Snake River for more 1805 LCT sites.
I took HWY 261 past Starbuck to a side road northeast to Texas Rapids.
It's about 5 miles to the marina from the start at HwY 126. The Corps
struggled through rapids near here on October 12, 1805. A series of
dams on the river has covered this series of turbulent water. Top
right, the northwest side of the Snake River where the Corps bivouacked
on October 12, 1805. |
