Lewis & Clark Trail
On September 19, 1805, Capt. Clark and his six hunters found a stray horse in a meadow. Having no food, they killed the animal and consumed some, hanging the remainder in a tree for Capt. Lewis's party, trailing by a day. So they feasted on the rest and bivouacked, here, at Full Stomach Camp on the 20th. Top right, Forest Road 500 (Lolo Motorway) crosses this ridge heading west. Top left, view west where they were heading. Bottom right, looking east, from where they came.
