Several
1805 and 1806 campsites lie between Sherman Peak(Spirit Revival Ridge)
and this site. FR 500 curves north and the LCT curves south, reconnecting
a little north of here. The trail is nonexistent in that area. Thick
brush and forest make for dangerous traveling there according to the
Forest Service guide book. Lewis described the meal of the previous
night: "we took a small quantity of portable soup...." In
mid September 2012, I drove the western part of FR 500 to visit accessible
sites (see page 206aa). |
