Moving northwest with the river, which has both of its banks in one state - South Dakota, I head for Chamberlain. Now there are two highways which intermittently follow the river; 1806 along the west side - indicating the Corps return trip - and 1804 - the journey out. I visited this museum to see what the Corps experienced when coming into contact with local tribes. Top left, a bison hunting scene. A Lakota warrior, above. Sgt Pryor was the first member to see a tepee like this.
