Eleven
crew members hiked the 9 miles from the Vermillion River with the
commanders. Heat fatigued, Seaman had to be returned to be to the
pirogue, The others climbed to the top for the magnificant view. While
there they noticed lots of insects which brought crowds of swallows
to feast. These photos are samples of flowers and insects along the
trail up from the south. The top right image, Rigid Sunflowers, seemed
to be the most prolific flora on my visit. I arrived there in August,
2007 close to their 25th date - one of the few times that would happen
on my trip. |
