| The park contains an excellent bust of Patrick Gass and signs explaining the election and campsite. Either from a sense of humility, or because he thought a journal should describe geographic features, weather, and other members' activities. Gass never mentions his elevation in rank. On August 22: "There was a cloudy, wet morning, after a night of hard rain..." On the 23rd: "We set out early in a fine morning....Three hunters went on ahead...when we had overtaken them they had killed two elk..." |
