This
reservoir exists for recreational use only. Planners knew they would
upset the environmental balance if all water was held behind the dam.
Water needed to continue to flow into the South Fork and main Humboldt
Rivers to protect habitat and the water table. No agricultural use
or community supply would be allowed. Boating, camping, and fishing
are the main activities here. The dam, above, lets abundant water
through to continue flowing as South Fork Humboldt River. Ruby Dome
