Lupine
grew profusely along the hillside, at our camp, above. They would
have been long gone by late August and September when most emigrants
camped at Thompson Creek.
Vintage ranch houses and farm equipment dot the valley floor as we
hike HCO south of Thompson Creek. Ranching started in the Ruby Valley
in the early 1860's. The three oldest ranches, currently operating,
were established in 1871 and shortly after. |
