Sulphur
Hot Springs stand on the east side of HCO between Lutts and Thompson
Creeks. I didn't see them. The light spots in the field may be springs.
They are on the Neff Ranch property so I didn't get closer. In September,
1841, John Bidwell described them: "[T]here were perhaps twenty
springs, the most of which were extremely beautiful, the water being
so transparent we could see the smallest things 20 or 30 feet deep.
The rocks which walled the springs, and the beautifully white sediment
lodged among them reflected the sun's rays in such a manner as to
exhibit the most splendid combinations of colors ...." |
