Our
team's 19th bivouac was at the Huntington Creek/Pearl Creek confluence.
Pearl Creek enters from the right , at left; and from the left, above.
This cow skull became our camp totem. It lay almost at the center
of the campsite. For us it wasn't a sign of bad luck. It was just
another sign of the circle of life and death. Most emigrants passed
through Huntington Valley in late August or early September. The Donner-Reed
Party was already almost a month behind the usual schedule. |
