across the valley. Emigrants may have seen early snow there in September.
They might have been disheartened by another mountain wall, but they
knew water would be available. Our tents peek out over waist high
sage, top right. The Ruby Mountains appear on the left in the photo.
The East Humboldt Range runs north, left. The trail skirts the south
end of this range before coming to the Ruby Mountains. |
