| The
Corps departed Ft. Clatsop March 23, 1806, backtracking up the Columbia
River (see lct394.) They traded for horses
in the Dalles area, and continued up river by horses. Near the Columbia-Walla
Walla confluence, natives pointed out this shortcut. The Corps followed
this trail for 100mi; 4/30-5/5/06. This was the only detour from the
outbound trail until Travelers' Rest (see lct252b.) |
