More closer looks at the detailed work of the sculpture. The top of a park sign, above, which gives extensive information about the French Canadians involved in the Corps's activities. An experienced French boat crew manned one of the pirogues as far as Ft Mandan. Toussaint Charbonneau, a French fur-trader, was hired as an interpreter at Ft Mandan. Other French fur-traders, provided important information when Lewis & Clark met them coming down the river. One of them, Pierre Dorion, joined them to help talk to the Sioux.
