manned one of the pirogues as far as Ft Mandan. Toussaint Charbonneau,
a French fur-trader, was hired as an interpreter at Ft Mandan. Other
French fur-traders, provided important information when Lewis &
Clark met them coming down the river. One of them, Pierre Dorion,
joined them to help talk to the Sioux. |
