The National Trail Center in Independence, off US HWY 24 (follow
the signs), contains displays about The Lewis & Clark, Sante
Fe, Oregon and California, and the Mormon Trails. The center also
has information to guide you to existing trail sections and related
objects in the Independence-Kansas City area. Left, a bust of President
Jefferson,left, and portraits of Meriwether Lewis (top) and William
Clark (bottom) highlight the Lewis and Clark Trail segment of the
center. A section of the Thomas Hart Benton mural, right graces
the entrance wall at the Harry S Truman Presidential Museum &
Library. The Library is located on the north side of US HWY 24 as
you enter Independence from the east.
