The
Corps struggled up through rapids just below here May 28th, 1805.
They hauled their craft over dangerous rapids using elkskin ropes,
passing Kipp Recreation area May 25th, and camped a few miles below
McClelland Ferry, top right, May 28th. Guide, Sarah Pernick, above,
paddles our canoe toward the ferry landing. It was June 25th, our
last day - about a month later than the Corps of Discovery slogged
up river here. |
