Lewis and Clark marveled at the skill of Indians, especially women, when maneuvering a bull boat, top left. Another surprise - tepees, above, sheltering Plains Indians. They became acquainted with ceremonial pipes, left, after coming in contact with various tribes. Indians traded with the Corps for sheet metal to fashion into arrowheads and spearpoints.
