Lewis purchased a large, black Newfoundland dog while in Pittsburg.
Lewis was there to oversee the keelboat construction. The builder,
constantly drunk, frustrated Lewis to no end. Nobody knows, but
Seaman's purchase may have been to help releave the frustration.
The sign, in the plaza of the visitor center, relates Seman's role
in the Corps of Discovery. The last two paragraphs speculate on
his post trip life.
