Enlisted men pulling guard duty had this room, above and bottom right, to relax and get out of the weather when not on duty. The guardsroom also doubled as a kind of recreation room. With 1600 square feet of living space in the fort, they made good use of every inch. It was an intensely severe winter, -40 degrees and lower at times. The Missouri froze solid. Top right, door to captains' Quarters; Charbonneau, Sacagawea, and York's next door up. The guardsroom is up front.
