The
top two photos are scenes at Indian Beach, at the beginning of the
Clatsop Loop Trail. The views are to the south. The bottom photos
are views northwest, left, and south, right. On the trek south on
January 8, 1806, Clark marveled at the view: "proceeded to the
top of the mountain...the highest part...faceing the Sea is open,
from this point I beheld the grandest and most pleasing prospects
which my eyes ever surveyed, in my frount a boundless Ocean...."
With ever changing forest growth, open views are fewer now than when
Clark's group climbed Tillamook Head. |
