Lewis & Clark Trail
Double Ditch Indian Village SHS
Left, a sign explains the process of disposing of trash. Top left and above, a great example of Mandan-Hidatsa house plans. Lewis and Clark and the rest of the Corps of Discovery would become quite familiar with this type of surroundings in the winter of 1804-1805. The replicas of lodges reflect this plan in detail. You get a good idea of the layout of a lodge when you couple this plan with the models you examined at On- A- Slant Village and will see at the Knife River Indian Villages.
