There's
no way to get to the November 8-9 campsite except by water. It was
on the point, in the center of the top right image, roughly at the
Wahkiakum/Pacific County border. The Corps was being rudely introduced
to northwest coast fall weather. Notice that the Captains appropriately
named the place "Cape Swell." On November 9, Clark described
the situation: "at this dismal point we must Spend another night
as the wind & waves are too high to proceed." |
