| The Altoona interpretive sign says you can't see Pillar Rock from land, only on the Columbia. I found a spot after a search along Altoona Pillar Rock Road in Dahlia - the end of the road. Top left, a peek of the rock through vegetation from the road. The other photos show Pillar Rock, well off shore up the Columbia. A path on private property (not posted) allowed access to the river. The LC camp was on this side of the Columbia River, opposite the rock. |
