Skamokawa Washington

On the journey down the Columbia, Lewis and Clark met many local chiefs. Later, the Wahkiakum Chief, Skamokawa, showed up at Fort Clatsop for a visit with the Captains where he received the medal (facsimile far right). Interpretive signs are in a kiosk at Skamokawa Vista Park. A real double-coned hat is on display at Fort Clatsop. Weathered wood, above.
