Vista
Park faces the Columbia River on the west end of Skamokawa, from WA
HWY 4. The Corps passed here on November 7, 1805. They put in at a
Wahkiakum village nearby and bartered for fish, wapato roots, 3 dogs
[for food], and 2 otter skins. They gave up several fish hooks for
these supplies. The natives would have considered it a good trade.
They would use the hooks to troll for sturgeon. |
