Columbia Gorge
Interpretive Center
Lewis & Clark Trail
David Manuel's "Council Fire on the Columbia" is one of the few Lewis and Clark exhibits at the center, top left. The sculpture's realistic quality conveys a "You are There" feeling. The ancient pictograph, above right, is from the collection at Horsethief State Park seen on a previous page. The Corps bivouacked about a mile and a half down river from the interpretive center on October 30 - 31, 1805.
