left Madame Dorion Park, on US HWY 12, to it's junction with WA HWY
730, and headed west. The Twin Sisters are 2 miles west of the 12-730
junction, on the left (south) side of the highway. The sign tells
their story. They have had many names including "Cayuse Sisters,"
alluding to their Native heritage. The Two Sisters stand as sentinels
over the Columbia River near the Wallula Gap, above. The photo is
from the one mile trail (round trip) past the monument. No journalist
mentioned the figures; however, Hat Rock, down river, did get noticed. |
