the 3 Forks Indian Trail Turnout on US HWY 12 is a few miles west
of Patah. An interpretive sign explains the significance of this ancient
trail junction. The highway leaves the Snake River after Chief Timothy
State Park. The remoteness of the river's path makes it difficult
to follow the Expedition's outward journey on October 11, 1805; so
I followed their section of the 1806 return trip in reverse. |
