The
Lewis & Clark Discovery Center is in Hells Gate State Park; a
two mile drive south, from Lewiston, on Snake River Avenue. The avenue
intersects HWY 12 right at the bridge on the Lewiston side of the
Snake River. The Corps didn't navigate this section of the river.
The Lewis & Clark Expedition in Idaho is the theme of the center.
If you have followed the LCT from Lolo Pass to Lewiston, you will
be familiar with the exhibits. The photo, top left, is a novel presentation
of Clark's meeting with the Nez Perce at Weippe. The woman who helped
Clark at Weippe, top right, gets more coverage than at any other place
I've visited. Right, interior view of the center. |
