Lewis & Clark Trail
Wendover Campground Idaho
As you drive down US HWY 12 from Powell, You'll see this interpretive sign across from Wendover Campground. The Corps left the Lochsa River here and passed a pond before ascending Wendover Ridge. The Captains named the pond after Private Joseph Whitehouse. The campground is a great place to stay to enjoy the river and the pond. A trail just east of the sign leads to the lake, but tangled brush borders it. A little bushwhacking is necessary to get to the edge for a good view.
